My heart aches for this world. Even kind words and compassion are met with resistance these days. Prayer is deemed as useless by the masses. Positivity and empathy are thought only to be shown with the backing of an ulterior motive or without meaning at all. Kindness and goodness are thought to be the enemies of change. Everything is so backwards.
It is hard to not feel hopeless in such a world.
When did we become a humankind of our own making? We ignore the miracles around us happening every day. We view differences as a mark for conflict and similarities as a force for pushing our narrow-minded agendas. We have forced God and faith or a belief in something greater out – using this as fuel for a fire of hatred. When did it become wrong to have hope and to believe in something greater than this broken world? When did a belief become ammunition to throw at people with other types of faith or those who question the existence of such faith? When did it become our job to ensure that we all think alike, believe the same, share the same goals – and to what end? In this version of humankind, it has become okay to stand for something as long as it is what the majority is standing for. It has become okay to threaten the lives and well-being of others as long as you share in popular opinion. My heart aches.
It is hard not to feel hopeless in this world that refuses hope.
Even kind actions, meant with good intentions, are responded to with accusation. When does it stop? How does this end in anything but destruction – emotional, physical, spiritual? There will be nothing left if we continue on this way. My heart aches. My heart mourns. It is broken for this broken world in which we live.
It is hard not to feel hopeless for a mankind that refuses hope.
“No one can be good for long if goodness is not in demand.” – Bertolt Brecht
